Police response to complaints made by Ashlee Edwards

The Authority’s investigation found that the Police response to Ms Edwards’ complaints relating to protection order breaches by her former partner Jimmy Akuhata, were poorly managed and grossly inadequate.

The Authority today released the results if its investigation into the death of Callan Moss following a Police pursuit. The Authroity found that Police not only considered all risk factors before commencing the pursuit but also fully complied with the law and Police policy during the pursuit.

Serious injury to Shane Legg following arrest

5 August 2013

The Authority today released the results of its independent investgation into the serious injury to Shane Legg following his arrest. The Authority found that while Police actions were reasonable and complied with the law in most respects, one officer failed to fulfil his duty of care to the person in his custody.

Death of Georgina Cherish Stone – Te Haara following Police Pursuit

9 July 2013

The Authority found that the actions of the fleeing driver, Mr Tonga, ultimately led to the death of Ms Stone-Te Haara. While officers failed to comply with Police policy in some areas, the Authority could not conclude that these failures and other actions contributed to Ms Stone-Te Haara’s death.

Operation Eight - 'Urewera Raids': The Report of the Independent Police Conduct Authority

An Independent Police Conduct Authority report has found that Police acted unlawfully in establishing road blocks and detaining and searching people during ‘Operation Eight’.

The Authority's report today released the results of its independent investigation into the Police operation which focused on the activities of a group of people who appeared to be involved in military-style training camps based in the remote Urewera forest in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
