The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found that Police were justified in commencing a pursuit of a stolen Subaru in Taita, Wellington, on 12 November 2016. Police generally conducted the pursuit in accordance with policy, apart from not following the full abandonment procedure after losing sight of the Subaru for some time.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found that a Police officer was justified in firing shots from a pistol at Murray Allan in Christchurch on 4 February 2017. Mr Allan received minor injuries to his head.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found that a Police officer was not justified in using a Taser on a prisoner on 26 January 2017, because the prisoner was not directly assaulting or threatening him or others at the time. However, Police were justified in using other force to restrain the prisoner.
